Wedding Trends Spotted at the Portland Bridal Show
Blogs
Did we see you at the Portland Bridal Show this past weekend? I hope so—and that you've already found our latest issue and the new Resource Guide super-helpful and inspirational.
In between greeting such lovely brides-to-be and handing out the magazines, I was able to take a stroll around the huge exhibit hall, full of incredible local vendors showcasing their best wedding ideas. There were so many beautiful flowers, striking cakes, yummy food, and gorgeous dresses, but here's a handful of that really got my attention (sorry for the blur from my not-so-new iPhone):

Of course, our stunning arrangements by Geranium Lake—I love the use of ornamental cabbage and the grayish hue of the eucalyptus to play off the tropical orchids. Just lovely!

Flowers Tommy Luke also used orchids, but to a more rainforest (less garden) effect. I'm very into the stem/branch-wrapped vase—lots of natural texture.

In the sweets department, I was particularly taken with these two neat and graphic fondant creations—the bubble-like polka dots from Sweet Cakes by Melissa, and the Northwest scenery from JaCiva's.
A couple of my favorite decor rental companies also presented characteristically awesome tabletop displays. A rustic and slightly antique country-chic look from The Party Place:

Love the burlap table runner, tree stump displays, and lavender bunches!
And a sleek, slightly mod, and thoroughly sophisticated white and silver theme from West Coast Event Productions:

Those tall, tall lamps and the oval plates are incredibly striking and unique!
Of course, there were tons of dresses to drool over, especially during the hour-long fashion show that featured designs from Charlotte's Weddings, Anna's Bridal, Sophie Bridal Couture, and more. Amid the many full, textured, and flowered skirts, though, this one from Charlotte's was my favorite:

The strong, clean lines of the bodice are such a beautiful complement to the flouncy skirt, and that fit—well, it's fit for a breathtaking bride!
